Hello. I'm Coach Nancy
I care about my students first. College admissions comes second. I meet each young person where they're at in their journey to become independent. Some students walk in with a clear plan and a resume full of leadership. Then, sometimes others don't know their strengths yet. I work with both. My job is to find what actually drives each student and then build on it. That's how confidence grows. That's how essays get honest instead of generic. I have a particular focus on students managing anxiety, depression, or ADHD. I understand what makes this process harder for them, and I adjust my approach so it works with their brain rather than against it. Every student gets a plan built around who they are, not a template.
I hold an Independent Educational Consulting Certificate from the University of California, Irvine, and completed the IECA Summer Training Institute at Claremont McKenna College. I regularly visit about 10-15 college campuses in person around the country every year, regularly attend professional conferences, and stay current on the ever-changing landscape of college admissions. I am a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), and I adhere to the highest ethical standards in the field.
I live in Carlsbad, CA, with my husband and our two dogs, Vandal and Ivy, who sometimes make appearances via Zoom. While I work remotely with students across the country, my roots in North County San Diego run deep- we raised our four children here over the last 30 years, and all attended La Costa Canyon High School. On occasion, I will see students in person at my dining room table if they live nearby and prefer "in-person" meetings.
